Theresia: Dear Liszt

Dear Liszt was released for i-mode compatible mobile phones on March 27th, 2009. WorkJam went defunct in 2011, so there was a short window of time where users could have been able to play Dear Liszt. There is little info still surviving on Dear Liszt- but its structure is very similar to other Theresia titles, where it follows an amnesiac protagonist piecing together their memories by the journals of others while trying to escape the castle they’re trapped in. Very similar to Dear Martel’s release, it was released in 5 parts, with there being 4 chapters of gameplay and an additional “Past Time” segment which would have covered the overall story.

The game’s website describes it as this:

―――Five women offered a bouquet of red flowers to the man. ...Awakening from that dream, the man found himself lying in a hollow space, surrounded by lifeless stone walls. He couldn’t remember why he had been sleeping in such a place. ...The man had lost his memory. As he wandered in search of it, he began to discover journals left behind by the women. There were five names in total. The journals contained what seemed to be fragments of the man’s past. And so the man began to roam, evading deadly traps— to unravel the truth of his forgotten past... Can the man survive the grotesque traps and uncover all the memories and mysteries that lie ahead?

What We Know

There are very few screenshots remaining of Theresia II: Dear Liszt. Firstly, here are two screenshots from the game’s visual novel segments.

Dear Liszt screenshot
The Japanese text in the image reads:

長女のエーヌは病弱な身で… 不思議と優しい女性だった。 あまりにもリストに似ていたので 少し怯いたことを覚えている。

Translation:
"The eldest daughter, Ene, was frail... She was a strangely kind woman. I remember being a little unsettled, because she looked so much like Liszt."

The screenshot seems to contain some of the five women mentioned in Theresia II’s story summary. We do not know which is which, but we have some information on them due to some findings which will be covered later on in this page.

Dear Liszt screenshot (Enne)
This second image is very small, but tells us that this character here is Enne. The text says “ああ、エーヌ....” which would translate to “Ah, Enne…”
